9 Lotus Herbals Products Review : Best and Worsts of 2021

Lotus Herbals Products Review

Lotus Herbals is a popular Indian brand that manufactures herbal-based cosmetics. It’s been in the market for more than two decades and claims to formulate products using Vedic Science and Modern Technology. Lotus Herbals has an extensive range of skincare, haircare, and makeup that accounts for more than 250 products. If you are in my generation(90’s), I am sure you would have explored this brand as a teenager as Lotus and Biotique were the most trending natural skincare brands at that time. Compared to Biotique, Lotus Herbals is slightly better in my opinion. As far as I’ve seen, Lotus Herbals states the full ingredients on the packaging, at least for their skincare range. It’s a Cruelty-free brand as well.

In the last couple of years, Lotus Herbals launched several other sub-brands including Lotus Professional, Lotus Makeup, Lotus Organics, Ikkai By Lotus, and Lotus Herbal Baby Care Range. Lotus Herbals is quite popular for its sunscreens. In today’s brand focus series, let’s have a look at some of the popular Lotus Herbals Products.

Lotus Herbals Review

1. Lotus Herbals Alphamoist Alpha Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oil-free Moisturizer

Lotus Herbals Alphamoist Oil Free Moisturizer Review

Advertisements

Product Type: Lotus Alphamoist Moisturizer is a light gel-cream moisturizer that replenishes moisture into the skin after cleansing.

Suitable for: Normal, Combination and  Oily Skin. Not ideal for Acne-Prone Skin.

Ingredients: Water, Almond Oil, Glyceryl Mono Hydroxy Stearate, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Light Liquid Paraffin, Vitis Vinifera (Grapes) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Extract, Lactic Acid, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Milk Enzymes, Sodium Lactate, Propylene Glycol, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Fragrance

Fragrance: Has a non-lingering herbal scent with a hint of citrus notes.

Additional Info: Alcohol-Free.

My Experience: It’s a lightweight product that gets absorbed into the skin easily and provides a more or less oil-free finish. On my acne-prone combination skin, it gave a perfect matte finish in the winters. But during the summers, it felt a little heavy and caused me to perspire more. With continuous use, it caused small zits on my forehead. It claims to be an oil-free formula, but it does have Wheatgerm Oil and Almond Oil. Both of which are said to be pore-clogging. I found this to be a great product to remove water-proof makeup, especially waterproof mascara and stubborn liquid lipsticks. However, I don’t think I’ll repurchase this product.

2. Lotus Herbals Cocomoist Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Lotion

Lotus Herbals Cocomoist Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Lotion Review

Advertisements

Product Type: The Lotus Cocomoist is an all-purpose moisturizing lotion that enhances skin moisture retention capacity.

Suitable For: Normal to Dry Skin who is not prone to Acne.

Ingredients: Water, Rosa damascene (rose) water, Theobroma Cacao( cocoa) seeds butter (cocoa butter), Almond Oil, Honey, Steareth-2, Trithanolamine, Glycerin, Steareth – 2 PEG-8 Distearate, Steareth -21, Methyl Paraben, Fragrance.

Additional Info: Alcohol-Free.

Fragrance: Cocomoist does not have a nutty cocoa scent as expected. It has a light, rosy floral fragrance which stays for 15-20 mins.

My Experience: The Lotus Cocomoist is a semi-thick lotion that is quite creamy & moisturizing. It does not absorb quickly. But, it is lighter than basic cold creams and has higher absorbancy than those. I used this moisturizer during the winters when my skin was very dry and rough. Within 4-5 uses the dry patches of my skin started to disappear. My skin felt moist and soft again. I was quite happy to see my skin getting used to such a heavy moisturizer. But after 1 week or so, new pimples and zits from clogged pores began to appear. I had to stop using this and shift to my trusted Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion and after 2 weeks my skin was back to normal. Finally, I gave this moisturizer to my mom and it worked excellently on her normal to dry mature skin. This moisturizer gave long-lasting suppleness and relief from winter dryness on her skin. This would make a great body moisturizer.

3. Lotus Herbals ClayWhite Black Clay Skin Whitening Face Pack

Lotus Herbals Claywhite Black Clay Skin Whitening Face Pack Review

Product Type: The Lotus ClayWhite Face Pack is a brightening clay mask with three types of gentle clays. It deeply cleanses, removes dullness, and brightens up the skin.

Suitable For: All Skin Types. Great for Dull and Rough Skin.

Ingredients: Water, Kaolin, Light Liquid Paraffin, Bentonite, Glyceryl Monostearate, Polysorbate 80, Zinc Oxide, Gum Acacia Extract, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Bearberry Extract, Black Clay, Cetyl Alcohol, Licorice Extract, Xanthum Gum, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, 2- Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Fragrance: The scent is something I didn’t expect, it’s nothing like clay. It has a light, sweet herbal fragrance that doesn’t linger.

My Experience: Like most clay masks, this is a grey-colored mud-based mask with a medium-thick dense consistency. However, it does not have a drying texture and applies smoothly to the skin. You don’t need to mix with water or anything. I don’t particularly enjoy clay face masks since they can be drying. But this one was a surprise. It does not dry out my skin at all. It takes less than 20 minutes for the mask to dry and there was no tingling or burning sensation on the skin. It feels so soothing and refreshing. The Lotus Clay Mask deeply cleanses, removes excess oil, dullness, and makes my skin soft. It instantly brightens my skin and provides a nice calming effect to my tired skin. This is one of the few clay masks in the budget category that even dry skin people can use.

4. Lotus Herbals White Glow Whitening & Brightening Gel Cream

Lotus White Glow Gel Cream

Product Type: It’s a brightening day cream that claims to contain the rarest fruit and plant extracts to make your skin flawless and radiant.

Suitable For: Combination Skin that’s not prone to acne. Oily Skin Types can try during the winters.

Ingredients: D.M., Water, Almond Oil, Octyl Methoxy Cinnamate, Glyceryl Mono Hydroxy Stearate, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Light Liquid Paraffin, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi (Bearberry) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Lactic Acid, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Milk Enzymes, Sodium Lactate, Propylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Ceto Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Triter Penoids, Phenyl Flavones (Mulberry) Extract, Epigallocathechin (Saxifraga) Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape)Extract, 2-Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methyl Paraben, Alpha-Arbutin, Fragrance.

Fragrance: Floral fragrance that’s non-lingering.

Additional Info: This Gel Creme is one of the best-selling products from the White Glow Range. I wonder why! This range has a couple of creams such as day crème, night crème, massage cream, deep moisturizing cream, advanced pink glow cream. All of which come in a similar white frost glass packaging which can be quite confusing.

My Experience: The one I have is the Gel Crème Day Cream with SPF 25 PA+++.  Firstly, it does not have that watery gel-cream texture. It’s an actual cream with a thick creamy texture. It spreads and gets absorbed easily. The cream has a cooling sensation and a moist feel on the skin immediately after application, though it settles down in a couple of minutes. The day crème has a dewy finish and moisturizes the skin without any greasiness. However, I would say this is not an ideal product for very oily skin. Combination skin types can use this comfortably.

The Lotus Glow Cream does not lighten or brighten the skin over time as claimed. In fact, it doesn’t even have an instant brightening effect. Overall, it’s just a moisturizing cream with minimal sun protection. Just like its other products, this does have pore-clogging ingredients, so it’s not acne skin-friendly.

5. Lotus Herbals Apriscrub Fresh Apricot Scrub

Lotus Herbals Apricot Scrub

Product Type: It’s a cream-based physical scrub that deeply cleanses the skin and sheds dead skin cells making it smooth and soft.

Suitable For: Dry Body Skin. Strictly not for Sensitive Skin Types.

Ingredients: Water, Prunus Armenlaca (Apricot Kernal) Powder, Glyceryl Monostearate, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Isopropyl Myristate, Cetyl Alcohol, Light Liquid Paraffin, Sodium Laurate sulfate, Methyl Paraben, Propyl paraben, Fragrance.

Fragrance: Mild floral scent that’s not overpowering.

My Experience: Apricot scrubs are quite outdated, but still I went with this scrub since I wanted an affordable foot scrub. Its creamy formula feels soft and nourishing on the skin. It has got apricot & walnut granules that are densely packed so little is enough to provide exfoliation. The scrub is a bit thick in texture hence it spreads much better on damp or wet skin. As I said I used it as a foot scrub. It removed dirt, impurities and, dead skin cells efficiently. I pair this scrub with a pumice stone and my heels are left soft and nourished.  Overall, it’s a nice, heavy-duty scrub that’s great for the feet and heels. I wouldn’t recommend this for facial use but can be used for the body. It’s quite moisturizing and leaves the skin soft.

6. Lotus Herbals Natural Glow Skin Radiance Facial Kit

Lotus Herbals Natural Glow Skin Radiance Facial Kit Swatches

Product Type: This is easy to use at-home facial kit that boosts radiance and youthful glow.

Suitable For: All Skin Types, except Sensitive & Acne Prone Skin.

My Experience: This Lotus Herbals Facial Kit definitely lives up to its claims. It gives parlour like facial clean-up experience at home without spending a lot. It deeply cleanses the skin, reduces dullness and brings a healthy glow to the skin. The kit comes with 5 steps

  1. Lemonpure Turmeric & Lemon Cleansing Milk: This helps to get rid of makeup, excess oil, dirt or any other superficial impurities. I gently massage the thick cream for 2 minutes on my face and wipe it off with a cotton dipped in lukewarm water. This has a soothing citrus aroma.
  2. Orange Peel & Alpine Salt Whitening Skin Polisher: This is a gel-based heavy-duty scrub with salt beads. The beads are quite sharp, so I use a very little amount with a light hand on damp skin. This scrub deeply cleanses the skin and provides an instant brightness. It has a light orange zest aroma.
  3. Wheatnourish Wheatgerm Oil & Honey Massage Crème: This is a thick massage cream with a soothing incense aroma. This cream really rejuvenates the skin and makes the skin soft and smooth to touch. It helps to get rid of dull and dehydrated skin and brings a nice glow to the skin.
  4. Frujuvenate Skin Perfecting & Rejuvenating Fruit Pack: This is a non-drying, clay-based face pack that spreads evenly on the skin. It freshens up my skin but doesn’t do anything apart from that. In my opinion, the Lotus ClayWhite Clay Mask gives better results.
  5. Cocomoist Cocoa-butter Moisturizing Lotion: This is the same moisturizer that I reviewed above. It’s a moisturizing lotion that’s more suitable for normal to dry skin. Since I don’t have dry skin I preferred using my regular oil-free moisturizer.

If you have any occasion to attend or want a regular facial clean-up but don’t have time for a parlor visit then this one will surely save the day.

7. Lotus Herbals 3 in 1 Matte Sunblock

Lotus Herbals 3 in 1 Matte Sunblock

Product Type: This is a 3 in 1 product that acts as a tinted moisturizer, sunblock, and skin brightener with a non-oily, matte finish.

Suitable For: Oily and Combination Skin Types. Great for hot and humid climate.

Ingredients: Water, Talcum, Kaolin (Light), Glycerine, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Oxybenzone, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Isopropyl Myristate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Fumed Silica, 2- Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Red Iron Oxide, Yellow Iron Oxide, Fragrance.

Fragrance: Faint cosmetic scent, nothing too bothering.

Additional Info: The sunscreen contains old-school chemical filters: Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Avobenzone, and physical filter: Titanium Dioxide.

My Experience: I’ve used multiple tubes of this when I was in college. If you had asked me which is the best sunscreen for oily skin 10 years ago, then I would have gladly said this is the one. But now that I’ve tried various sunscreens and learned about safer UV filters, I do not think this is the best out there. Anyways, the Lotus Herbals 3 in 1 Matte Sunblock is a mattifying sunblock that’s tinted with a peachy tone. The tint is light and does not look ashy or white on my fair to medium skin tone. The texture is not too thick, it’s very smooth and spreads & blends easily. I liked how it kept my skin shine-free and oil-free in the hot weather. It blurs out pores to a certain extent and gives a freshly polished look, unlike many greasy sunscreens that give a dull look. Personally, I haven’t faced any issues with this sunscreen. But there are better sunscreens with safer sunscreen filters in the market now, so I wouldn’t recommend this now.

8. Lotus Herbals UV Screen Matte Gel Sunscreen

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel

Product Type: It’s a gel-based sunscreen with SPF 50 PA+++ that protects the skin against sun damage.

Suitable For: Oily Skin Types

Ingredients: Water, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Sodium Polyacrylate, (And)Ethylhexyl Stearate, Trideceth-6, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Triethanolamine, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Extract, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Extract, Horse Chestnut Extract, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, 2-Phenoxyethanol, Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Methyl Paraben, Propylparaben, Fragrance.

Fragrance: Cosmetic scent that’s non bothering and non-lingering.

Additional Info: The only sunscreen filter in this is Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, which is a UVB chemical filter. I do not know how they claim to protect against both UVA and UVB.

My Experience: This is yet another popular Lotus Herbals Sunscreens. I like its lightweight texture which spreads nicely on the skin. It does not leave any white cast and gives a slightly dewy finish. Though it does not make my skin greasy or oily, it’s not matte gel as claimed! I also noticed that it does not work well with many moisturizers. It pills and balls so if you are having a multiple-step skincare routine, this product will be a fail. In all, both the Lotus Sunscreens do have a nice cosmetically elegant finish on the skin with no white cast. But I doubt their sun-protecting ability. So it’s a miss for me.

9. Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Matte Lip Color

Lotus Herbals Pure Color Lipstick Red Rose

Product Type:  It’s a moisturizing lip color with the goodness of Aloe Vera and jojoba Extract.

Suitable For: Everyday wear. It’s a subtle red rose shade with earthy undertones. Flatters all skin tones. Check swatches here.

Ingredients: Not mentioned.

Fragrance: It has a prominent sweet floral scent that fades away after a while.

My Experience: It’s a creamy moisturizing lipstick that applies smoothly. Doesn’t tug my lips or dry them out. Since it’s creamy, it does transfer a bit. It’s not super pigmented or super long-lasting. But pigmented enough to give full coverage in 2 to 3 swipes and stays put for 3 to 4 hours easily. The finish is creamy matte and looks nice on the lips. It’s quite budget-friendly. If you looking to buy a subtle red lipstick for the first time, then absolutely go for it. It’s a nice beginner’s red lipstick.
