Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick Review Swatches

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick

Today I’ll be reviewing three lipstick shades from the Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick range. Wet n Wild is a Los Angeles based brand which is Peta- certified and cruelty-free. Not all of their products are 100% vegan, but they are striving towards making them all vegan friendly, as the brand says. So, to be honest I hadn’t heard about this brand before it was launched in India. One fine day, while I was browsing through Nykaa I came to know that Wet n Wild has been recently launched on Nykaa. The name itself attracted me and I decided to have a look at the products the brand was offering. I was really surprised to see an international brand offering products at such affordable prices while maintaining quality standards at the same time. Wet n Wild has a full makeup range right from lipsticks, blush set, eyeshadow palettes, concealer, foundation, and every other thing you can think of in the makeup range at pocket-friendly prices. I came across these Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick which looked cute and were super affordable as well. These are available in total 12 shades in India but I chose three of them to start with and picked up the shades Nouveau Pink, Hot Red, and What’s Up, Doc? at just Rs. 135 each.

Product Description:

We’ve never quite understood why others make you spend over 20X as much on something that we give you for next to nothing. Wet N Wild’s lipstick formula contains all the same things as the other guys: rich color, vitamins A & E, aloe vera, and really feels like putting silk on your lips. If you’re already thinking That is a crazy bargain, we’ve now added macadamia nut oil that contains antioxidants to hydrate your lips for a smooth, supple pout. Are we just crazy? Have we gone too far? Or do you deserve it? We definitely think so! One try, and we guarantee you will declare this your best lipstick brand of life.

My take on Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick:

Packaging: I did not like the packaging at all, it is very plasticky. It is not sturdy and the cap can break easily. You can see in the pictures that the cap of the shade Nouveau Pink is already broken and the other two have little cracks. I’m also not happy with the bullet, the lipstick does not come out of it smoothly and gets everywhere around the bullet while you are taking it out or closing the cap. So you need to be careful about it when you are using it. The bottom of the bullet has a label which is color-coded and the shade name and number are mentioned on it.

Shades:

  • Nouveau Pink: This is a bubble-gum pink color, something that will work for only fair skin tones. When I saw the shade on Nykaa, it looked like more of a dark pink color which is why I ordered it, but it totally turned out to be a different ‘pink’ than what I had thought of. Even when you look at the bottom of the bullet, the shade you see is a darker pink, however, the lipstick is a light pink color. Since I am medium skin toned, this didn’t look good on me so I gave this to one of my aunts. She has a fair skin tone and the shade looks good on her.
  • Hot Red: This is a very beautiful red that would work across all complexions. You can wear it throughout the year. It is my favorite of these three and looks really good on my lips.
  • What’s Up, Doc?: This is a bright peachy sort of a color. It lies somewhere between peach and coral to be precise. This would look good on fair and medium skin tones. It is suitable for everyday wear.

Texture: The texture of these lipsticks is silky, as the brand says. It is creamy, shiny, soft, and easy to apply. The lipsticks glide smoothly on the lips, are hydrating enough and do not dry up. There is no particular smell of these lipsticks, but I somehow felt that they smell like wax crayons.

Pigmentation and Staying Power: All the three Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick have a buildable formula and are nicely pigmented. Around 2 swipes would be enough to get a rich pigmentation. They are soft and feel comfortable on the lips. The staying power is average, the lipsticks stay on for 2-3 hours. Since the lipsticks are creamy they do transfer and get wiped off if you eat something, however, they leave a little bit of color on your lips that looks natural.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick Swatches

Pros:

  • Super-affordable.
  • Enriched with ingredients like vitamin A and E, aloe vera, and macadamia nut oil.
  • Peta-certified and cruelty-free brand.
  • Nicely pigmented.
  • Buildable formula.
  • Comfortable on lips.

Cons:

  • Not transfer-proof.
  • Unsturdy packaging, can break easily.
  • Not travel-friendly.

Rating: 4/5

Would I recommend? If you are someone who prefers creamier lipsticks than matte and are looking in for some affordable yet quality lip colors, then you must try these ones for sure. As for me, I am not really sure if I’ll buy them again since I didn’t like the packaging much, however, the lipsticks are good and hydrating enough with good pigmentation and average staying power. These lipsticks are also ideal for affordable gifting too!
