Japanese sunscreens are such fuss-free products that you may wonder if they are even sunscreen. They also have more regulations when it comes to sunscreen tests. I have loved all the Japanese skincare I have tried so far (I’m looking at, you Hada Labo). So I wanted to try this highly raved sunscreen from the brand Skin Aqua. This Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel is supposed to be lightweight and has excellent sun protection. They have a lot of versions to it but I wanted to try the most budget-friendly option first. So I got this. If you are interested in knowing my opinion keep reading.

Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel Review
Packaging:
The sunscreen comes in a white big bottle with a golden cap and squeezy tube. The product is great if you are looking for 3 finger application as it disperses only the right amount of product. It does look like cheap plastic but I don’t mind given the fact this is so affordable even after customs and such.
Texture:
The super moisture gel has a very liquid texture, unlike its name gel. The texture is like water. To be honest I don’t think the “3- finger rule” is enough for this product. The product can give a patchy application as it dries down very quickly. So I blend it very fast. I usually lather a lot when I am using this.
Fragrance:
The sunscreen has Alcohol in it so it does have a strong alcoholic scent like the Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence. The scent goes away within a minute so I don’t bother. But if you are very sensitive to fragrances then I suggest you stay steer clear of this product.
My Experience:
I’ve been using the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel for quite a few weeks now and I can say I like this sunscreen a lot. It takes less than 30 seconds for the product to absorb and create a film on the skin. In this way, one can know if the sunscreen is ready for protection or not.
What I love the most is the finish – it is extremely skin-like and doesn’t leave any white cast. You can not even tell if you are using any sunscreen or not.
The product is great if not my holy grail for long-wearing makeup days as it does not alter the finish with all the makeup products I am putting on top of it. It sometimes pills though, if I am using a brush for foundations! But that can be prevented if I take a minute to let the sunscreen settle down completely before applying makeup.
True to its claims the sunscreen is waterproof and sweatproof. For my best friend’s oily skin the sunscreen held up pretty good and she could see the sunscreen at the end of the day without even re-applying it. On my dry skin, the alcohol was pretty harsh and I could see my face craving for moisture at the end of the day. So I avoid using this every day.
There were days, I felt like my skin looked a bit dull and dark. This product is so popular among beauty enthusiasts – it’s considered as one of the best asian sunscreens and I can attribute it to its amazing skin-like comfortable finish.
Pros:
- Great skin like the satin matte finish.
- Offers great sun protection.
- Very easy to apply and comes in a large bottle
- Budget-friendly.
- Doesn’t need much time to blend.
- Doesn’t have any white cast in it.
- Super waterproof and sweatproof.
Cons:
- Have a high concentration of alcohol which can cause dryness if used long-term.
- It’s liquidy so if not used enough it can create a patchy application.
- Not very sensitive skin friendly.
- It creates a film on the skin – some people may not like this.
Rating: 4/5
Would I recommend it? Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend this product. It is an amazing sunscreen with a cosmetically elegant texture and leaves no white cast at all.
