Sunscreen is the backbone of any skincare routine. One must understand that if they are not using sunscreen diligently, what’s the point of the expensive serums, vitamin C, and retinol? Do you know you can develop hyperpigmentation after spending 7 minutes in the sun? But sunscreen development is hard, even for big companies. They get bad first; sometimes they cannot develop film on the skin, or sometimes they are very greasy and oily, even for dry skin types. They can also be very expensive, given that the 50-gram bottles can only last two or three weeks with proper replication. Japanese skincare does sunscreens, right? They have huge bottles of sunscreen, and their law practically forces them to get the PA and UVB numbers right. I got very frustrated with Indian products and their hush-hush testing, so I recently got an Amazon Japan haul just to know about their sunscreen hype. Today I am going to review Suncut Kose UV Gel super waterproof sunscreen, and if you are interested in knowing more, then please keep on reading.

Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel Review
Packaging:
It comes in a squeezy yellow bottle, that gives out the perfect amount of product for your two-finger rule. The product can be well-locked and can be transported without any worry. The yellow bottle looks very classy, even for a drugstore product, and gives oomph to your skincare shelf.
Texture:
The texture of this product is between gel and cream. This is an almost gel-like product – that spreads out like a charm on the skin and gets absorbed within 10 seconds or less. You have to work very fast because the moment it is so dry if you try to pat it, it will pill no matter what. One has to just leave it there.
Fragrance:
The Suncut Kose UV Perfect super gel has alcohol in the formula, which is why it can sink in and create a film so fast. The fragrance of alcohol is definitely there, but it is not a bad fragrance. The smell of alcohol goes away after you put it on the skin, so people with migraines can easily use it without any worry.
Efficiency:
This sunscreen from Suncut is one of the most effective waterproof asian sunscreens I have used in recent times. It is so waterproof that even after a beach splash, I could see the sunscreen film intact on the skin.
The product contains alcohol, that might potentially dry out any skin in the long term. That is why one has to use proper skincare before putting it on. But with some skincare products, it pills a lot, so this sunscreen is a hit or miss.
Reapplication is a huge problem for someone who uses makeup and powder because then you will have a greater pilling issue with your makeup ruined in the middle of the day.
There is no whitecast, and it doesn’t make your skin red or itchy, unlike some other Japanese products.
All in all, if you have very oily skin and don’t reapply your sunscreen enough, then this is a must-try for you.
Pros :
- This is great for someone with very oily skin.
- It doesn’t make you tan, dark, or dull, even if you are on the beach.
- Super duper waterproof and sweatproof.
- It doesn’t feel like anything on the skin.
- Spreadability is great with no whitecast.
- Sinks into the skin within 10 seconds (no kidding).
Cons:
- It makes your skin dry and dehydrated if the skin is not prepped properly.
- Double-cleansing is extremely needed.
- Pill if not used diligently.
- Reapplying is a pain because of the pilling.
- It can be harsh on the skin because of the dryness it causes and the alcohol it contains.
Rating: 3.5/5.
Would I recommend it?
It’s not an ideal sunscreen for reapplication or dry skin types. But it would make a great sunscreen for oily skin types as it vanishes into the skin like you have nothing on with no whitecast. It’s waterproof and provides ample protection from UV damage.
