My take on Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation:

Packaging: This is a stick foundation, so it comes in the form of a stick, precisely like a lipstick but just a little bigger. You just have to open it like a lipstick, rotate the bottom and the foundation bullet comes out. The packaging is very compact and travel friendly. They are not color coded but they do have the shade number written on the bottom along with the shade reference label. The cap is tight enough and do not come out on its own during travel or mishandling

Shade: The shade range is very good. They have so many shades that suit the extreme ends of pale and deeper skin tones. I got myself F8 after seeing so many swatches online and I can’t be more happy to have found a perfect match. F8 is for medium skin tone with yellow undertones. I’m glad that it doesn’t look ashy or pinkish after blending on my skin. One can use other shades for contouring and highlighting as well. The foundation did not oxidise on my skin.

Texture: I’ve come across stick foundations that are so dry and hard to glide on the skin. This one is totally opposite. It’s super creamy, glides on the skin smoothly and blends into the skin with ease.

Fragrance: The Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation has no particular fragrance. It’s fragrance free and people with sensitive skin/nose will like this.

Coverage: Depending on the amount of product you deposit and depending upon the tool you use to apply, the coverage varies. Typically it’s a medium to full coverage, buildable foundation. It easily conceals minor discolorations and acne marks.

Application: I usually prefer dotting the stick foundation (as if lightly touching the skin with a feather) all over my face, in that way it gives a more natural coverage and lightweight feel. Swiping a thick layer of the product on the skin gives full coverage but also a slightly heavy and full on makeup face. The foundation blends easily with both brush and sponge. I like to use my RT Stippling brush more with this foundation.

Finish: The brand claims to give you a fresh and dewy look and yes it does that. It gives a beautiful, youthful glowy finish. It’s does not make you shine like a disco ball rather subtly enhances one’s skin. The foundation is meant for dry skin and is mildly moisturizing. I am liking it on my combination skin. I tend to lightly powder my T-zone alone (mostly after 4 hours of wear) to keep that glow alive while avoiding shine & oiliness on my nose & forehead area. Except for very oily skin, this foundation would suit all skin types. It doesn’t cling onto patches nor accentuates fine lines. But prepping the skin beforehand with a good skincare routine and primer will give you the perfect base. The foundation makes me look good on photographs and there is no flashbacks in them. It looks pretty natural.

Staying Power: The foundation is long lasting. If you apply a lot of foundation, it stays super long with setting powder and fixing spray. On days when I apply a light layer with a natural coverage, it tends to lose its freshness and starts fading around the 4th hour. The foundation do transfer to tissues paper if you check its transfer-ability. But then it’s not crazily transferable with a slight touch. If you sweat a lot, it transfers. I have acne prone skin and this foundation hasn’t broken me out so far.

Pros:

  • Nice shade range.
  • Travel friendly packaging.
  • Creamy, easily blendable formula.
  • Medium to full, buildable coverage.
  • Gives a youthful dewy finish.
  • Good staying power.
  • Fragrance Free.
  • Cruelty-Free.

Cons:

  • It transfers, if you sweat a lot when freshly applied or if it’s not set with a powder.
  • May not suit oily skin types.

Rating: 4.5/5

Would I recommend? It’s convenient to use, blends so easily that even beginners can apply this foundation with ease. The coverage is buildable and can be tweaked according to one’s preference. I like the dewy finish of this foundation and I can see myself reaching out to this more often during the winter months. I will recommend this for dry and combination skin types. Oily skin types can skip this.
